How do I secure a shelf safe?
Every safe ships with a bolt kit — screws and washers that work with most small power drills. Shelf safes have four points on the bottom and four on the back, so you can fasten to the shelf, the wall, or both. We would do both wherever the position allows it.
What is the difference between the push-button and biometric versions?
Both open the same safe; they differ in how you get in. Push-button is a classic keypad with one-touch locking. Biometric adds a touchscreen that conceals your code as you enter it, plus a fingerprint sensor that stores up to ten prints. The steel, the finish and the interior are identical either way.
Front-opening or top-opening — which should I choose?
It usually depends on the shelf rather than the safe. A front-opening model needs clearance in front of the door to swing; a top-opening model needs it above the lid. Measure whichever you have less of.
How long is the fire rating on the Mycube Fire?
Sixty minutes at 1700°F, certified. It is made of galvanized steel with a fire-retardant core and a plated-steel door.
What happens if the battery runs out?
Four AA batteries, replaced about once a year, and a manual override key that is worth keeping outside the safe. The Mycube Fire is the exception: its batteries sit on the outside of the door, so there is no key to keep track of.
How is a shelf safe delivered?
Free, by standard carrier. In-stock safes generally leave us within two business days — three for the Mycube Fire — and you will get a tracking number in the confirmation email. Shelf safes arrive boxed rather than crated, so there is no pallet and no delivery appointment to make.
What does the lifetime warranty cover?
We guarantee our safes for the life of your ownership. If a part stops working we provide the replacement at our cost, and labor too where the part itself was at fault. Batteries are not covered.
