FAQ

Q.What are MyCube and MyCube Mini safes made of?

A.MyCube and MyCube Mini safes are made of one-eighth-inch (1⁄8”) thick steel.

Q.How do I open the door when I take MyCube out of the box?

A.Each MyCube door is secured by fabric or a plastic door cover to prevent the door from opening during shipping and when being taken out of the box. If the door doesn't open readily, just give the keypad a pull and the door will open.

Q.How do I open MyCube if the batteries in the digital keypad run out?

A.MyCube comes with a manual override key that can be used to open the safe if the batteries need to be replaced. It's important to replace the batteries once every 12 months, and to keep the keys outside of the safe.

Q.How do I secure MyCube?

A.MyCube and MyCube Mini safes come with a self-installation bolt kit that includes eight (8) screws and washers, and that works with most small power drills. There are four holes on both the bottom and back of all MyCube safes where you may fasten MyCube to the surface of your choice. An installation diagram is located on our webiste in the footer, under Product Manuals.

Q.What is MyCube best used for?

A.Urban living, apartment buildings, homes, hotels, offices, and dormitories. MyCube is best suited to protect valuables, keep your items organized and locked up, and keep your valuables out of sight from people who access your home.

Q.Do the jewelry trays work in all of the MyCube safes?

A.The jewelry trays fit in the MyCube and Mini safes only. You can fit up to 4 trays in each. The Fire Safe does not accommodate our jewelry trays, but instead features an internal tray for storing valuables and documents.

Q.Does the standard MyCube safe have a fire rating?

A.There is no fire rating on the MyCube or MyCube mini safes. The MyCube fire safe has one hour fire protection.

Q.How long is the fire rating for the MyCube Fire safe?

A.The MyCube Fire safe is meant to protect against fire for 1 hour at 1200 degrees fahrenheit.

Q.What happens if I lose my manual key?

A.You will need to contact us and we can walk you through the steps of getting a replacement key.

Q.How does the internal outlet work on the MyCube 1st Generation safes?

A.Certain original version MyCubes come with a power cord outside the safe that can be plugged into any electrical outlet. Electronics may then be plugged into the single internal outlet and charged inside the safe. The power cord has NO bearing on the digital lock, so in the case of a power outage, the digital keypad will continue to function normally – as long as the batteries have charge.

Q.What is the purpose of the USB port on the side of the keypad?

A.The USB port is designed to be used for hotel and commercial property use. There is no function for stand alone MyCube safes.

Q.What if I need to change my code?

A.On the inside of the back door jamb of the safe, there is a black switch that controls the power to the keypad. This switch is on the inside left when looking at the battery pack. Flip this switch off and then on. Your code is now cleared, and you can reset your code. For our newer 3rd generation safes, see our Videos section for setting your code.

Q.How long do the batteries in the keypad last?

A.The batteries typically last 14-16 months, but we recommend replacing the batteries every 12 months just to be safe. All MyCube, MyCube Mini, and MyCube Fire safes take 4AA batteries.

Q.Where is the battery pack located?

A.The battery pack is located on the back inside door of the safe. It is concealed by the black plastic cover, which can be opened by using the allen wrench that comes with each safe. The Fire Safe has a battery pack that is located on the front of the door to the right of the keypad.

Q.What is the size of the allen wrench?

A.We have two types of wrenches that work in our MyCube and MyCube Mini safes. One is a 3mm allen wrench. The other is a T25 Torx key. The proper wrench comes with each safe. If you need to get another, look at the screw top to see which shape it is, and the screw that has 6 flat sides is an allen wrench. The one that looks more like a starfish is the T25 Torx key.

Q. What if I lose the operating manual that comes with the safe?

A.In the footer of our website, we have a link to the Product Manuals for our safes, which you can view and download.
